Anytime they're going somewhere, they know the by-the-charts travel
time (at least in-sphere--they haven't gotten into the Phlogiston
yet). So i find out ahead of time what they're doing: "Assuming
nothing comes up, what're you gonna be doing for the first month
ofthe voyage?" That way, if something *does* happen, i can just skip
to it, without short-circuiting player input, but also without giving
it away. So, if i know pirates are going to ambush them on the 20th
day, i know they'll be about 3/4ths of the way through whatever they
were planning to do that month, so i can cut in with the event
appropriately. And if nothing exciting happens during that month,
we've already summed up what occurs, and can move on.

There was a young poet named Dan,
Who's poetry never would scan.
        When told this was so,
        He said, "Yes, I know,
It's because I try to put every possible syllable into that last line
that I can."
