I Gamemaster multiple systems, and in Chivalry and
Sorcery (C&S) there is a new Skillscape based version
of a spell which increases the Nutritional Units
within a plant such as grain so that the food produced
is better able to maintain life. There are also spells
which increase the yeild of a feild and which grow
plants faster. All together these spells will allow a
locale that only has a short growing period to produce
as well as a larger more natural farm. There is no
reason that you could not do the same in D&D.
