Round 3:
Leera tries to pull away from the encircling appendages screaming
"Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She than makes an arcane gesture and screams down
in the direction whence the flukes arise, "Die!!" The flukes suddenly
go slack as the creature begins to unwind from her.
Seeing Leera stagger Ferric rushes toward her yelling "Freneth!
Dhebun! Come on!" Leaping the canoe he stabs at the beast with his
rapier and dagger. His rapier point misses the creature, but his
dagger sinks into one of the flukes.
Freneth responds instantly to the command, gripping his javelin, and rushing
toward Leera. Freneth uses his atatl to hurl his javelin toward the
creatures muck covered body. The throw goes wide, and the
rope-trailing javelin sinks into the muck.
Needing no further encouragement Dhebun charges towards Leera,
chanting in his deep baritone voice a song to encourage his
shipmates. Almost at once everyone feels their spirits and confidence
rise.
Seeing Leera in trouble, Sekeht clasps his hands together and blows a
thin stream of air toward her. Leera feels the creatures hot, slimy
skin chill noticeably.
Holland chants, pointing his finger towards Leera, three missiles of
black energy fly from his finger and in rapid succession strike the
creature attacking Leera.
Allagan yells out to the Cutlass, "Cutlass, how many of them are there?"
The voice calls back, "TWO LAD! THERE BE TWO OF THE BEASTS IN THE MUD!"
Allagan runs forward with his spear and attacks the creature, but it
has finally disentangled from Leera dn slides back into the muck, so
that Allagan's spear thrust stabs only mud.
With his short sword held loosely in his right hand Kain kneels at
Ives' side and reaches out to put a hand on his shoulder. "Ives are
you ok? Can you hear me?" When the giff fails to respond Kain calls
out to the group, "I think I may have got our ... Um .... Adversary's
attention. But I have ... Um ... no idea where it might be. I can't
tell if it is ... Um ... controlling our friend's minds or ... Um
... simply driving them mad."
The invisible Talus flies over and directly behind the spine covered
head he spotted, drawing his ruby dagger. The creature is moving
slowly forward through the muck, and disappears into the fog bank
Holland conjured just a moment ago.

Round 4:
Leera moves quickly to Raken, calling: "Help me!"
Raken, seeing her wounds, quickly chants a prayer to Celestian,
healing her wounds completely.
Sekeht sticks close to Allagan, holding three marbles in his left
hand and his scimitar in his right.
Ferric stands with rapier and dagger looking into the fog and darkness.
Freneth curses in his native tongue, and quickly reels in his javelin.
Still chanting and gripping his sword with both hands on the hilt,
Dhebun watches the fog and darkness.
Allagan stands with his spear ready.
Holland slowly and painfully climbs to his feet.
Still crouching at Ives side Kain says, "I have a ... Um ... safe
place I might be ... Um ... able to ... Um ... to protect some of
us there, from ... Um ... similar attacks, but ... Um ... only if
they are very close to me, and ... Um ... not for very long. We
should watch out for friends who become ... Um ... immobilised or ...
Um ... confused, our enemy could certainly ... Um ... stun a ... Um
... mind and ... Um ... allow its ... Um ... allies to ... Um ...
attack physically."
Talus can no longer see the creature in the fog.

"...And nobody is to be killed at all, if it can be helped. Keep your
tempers and hold your hands until the last possible moment!"
"But if there are many of these ruffians," said Merry, "it will
certainly mean fighting. You won't rescue Lotho, or the Shire, just
by being shocked and sad, my dear Frodo."
