Round 1:
Attempting to evade Nilaroo's sword Ferric shouts, "They've been mind
controlled! Defense only! Casters, stun or hold them! Dhebun, Talus
find what's causing it!. Ferric attempts to parry any attacks while
regaining his feet.
A dull haze still over Nilaroo's eyes, he reverses his grip on his
two-handed sword. Stretching his arms to their limit, he brings the
point down into Ferric's exposed chest.
Ferric rolls to the left and leaps to his feet as Nilaroo's blow
strikes the ground. Nilaroo swiftly recovers and aims a powerful blow
Ferric as he rises, but Sekeht waves his right hand at Nilaroo's
sword and the blow is somehow parried.
Drawing his short sword, Dhebun jumps from the canoe and starts
towards the treacherous Giff. "IVES what madness has befallen you?"
he bellows angrily.
Freneth seems to panic at the sudden violence at his friends, and chucks his
javelin toward Ives. The javelin misses the giff's arm by inches and
clangs against a wall off in the darkness.
Flinging the glaive to one side Ives roars out "GET OUT OF MY MIND"
as he falls on one knee into the muck with a squelch, and clasps his
hands over his ears.
Holland flops over onto his back, his fingers quickly digging into
his sashling. Throwing his hand out, a spray of sand flies at Ives
as Holland chants some words. A spray of multicolor light flashes
from his hand into Ives' face, and the Giff falls
Allagan's eyes go wide as he sees the attacks. Pointing his finger
Allagan commands, "Still!"
Nilaroo goes rigid and topples over.
Kain drops his his crossbow and starts a headlong charge towards
Ives. Covering the distance between the two as fast legs will allow.
"Um ... Can anyone see an .. Um ... enemy? Apart from the ... Um ...
Mad ones amongst us." He calls, his right hand reaching for the short
sword at his belt.
Finally snapping out of the shock of seeing Ives cut Holland down,
Raken stares into the mud, looking for a foe.
Leera quickly steps out of the canoe, putting it between her and the
two maddened humanoids.
Dhebun begins desperately searching the murky cave for a sign of
their unseen foe, his knuckles turning white as he clenches his sword
tightly.
Talus turns invisible and heads zooms back down the stairs, flying as
fast as he can.
"LOOK TO THE MUD, MATEYS! THE CHOWDER HEADS AIN'T DONE YET!" the
voice again calls from the darkness deeper in the cave.

Round 2:
Freneth scurries away from the combat, digging for a rope, and tying
it to another javelin.
Sekeht peers into the darkness, trying to discern the source of the voice.
Allagan rushes over to Nilaroo and kicks his sword away from him.
Nilaroo lies paralyzed in the mud.
Ferric stands blade ready to parry any attacks.
Standing by Ives, Kain suddenly goes rigid.
{Kain and Ives cower in the center of a dense thorn bush the solid
ground beneath anchors them, but otherwise the bush completely
surrounds them. They are in a hollow at its center and anything
approaching would have to fight through the clawing branches and tiny
needles just waiting to tear the flesh of the unwary. A wyvern, wet
with slime and muck, beats its wings helplessly outside the bramble,
unable to get through the thorns.}
Holland chants again and forms a wall of fog between the ledge that
the party is on and the gassy muddy area north of them.
Invisible, Talus flies over the bubbling mud pots looking for the
creatures responsible. He spots a head, just barely poking from the
mud. It is hard to tell more, in the dark with just the spine covered
dome of the skull and the eyes showing, but Talus can see it isn't
human.
Raken continues searching the muck for creatures.
Suddenly, something rises from the muck behind Leera and three
tail-like flukes lash from the mud and wrap around her legs. Leera
staggers from the blow, but does not fall down despite the pain from
the sharp hooks on the flukes' ends. They stay wrapped about her,
apparently determined to drag her into the mud.

"...And nobody is to be killed at all, if it can be helped. Keep your
tempers and hold your hands until the last possible moment!"
"But if there are many of these ruffians," said Merry, "it will
certainly mean fighting. You won't rescue Lotho, or the Shire, just
by being shocked and sad, my dear Frodo."
