what was noname's last monster, you say? You mean me, right? Weeeell....there were the Intellect Gems. They weren't really put together as a monster, and they weren't incredibly good. But I was young, and foolish. I assume you're talking to me when you say noname, of course...And I'll go ahead and ignore the implications of the tone you were using-they aren't very productive implications. I haven't really put together any monsters since 3e became the Norm. I don't play it, and few enough play 2e anymore for there to be much interest in any monsters I'd write. And all discussions don't have to be about numbers-whether monster A gets a +54 for size or monster B gets a -20 defensive penalty for having three legs. While the choice of names is a very personal thing, there's sort of a trend to make names unpronounceable, or spell them funny, in ways that anyone speaking good old common might have trouble remembering or saying them-particularly because there are so many weirdly named monsters out already that most characters won't have run into them. Very few people spend much time on boats, but somebody named the Ixitxatchitl (sp?) in such a way that it's very hard to say there are giant evil rays off the port bow. Not that it's not cool to have a few critters named unusual things-it adds something to the game sometimes-but Dowagar *really does* remind me of Dowager. And you never know if Flits wants that association running around. ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~` "I do not want victory, Krishna, nor kingdom nor pleasures.
