    Sorry, no it isn't part of anything larger.  It was just an idea I was
playing with in the back of my head for a while, and finally put it to
paper.  To be honest, the idea came from some news show about people keeping
lions, tigers, & bears (oh my!) for pets, if dangerous ones.  I thought
"hmmm, I wonder what bears would look like after about 10,000 years of
selective breeding & domestication".  Thus the hearth bears were born.
