Oh no, I didn't take those as personal attacks at all. I think we see a few
things differently, yes, but that's always the case between two people.

And I most assuredly respect you as well. I consider you one of the
cornerstone people of SJ fandom.

It just gets a bit disheartening at times seeing this fan rift. I see it
all the time, whether it is Oriental Adventures (Kara-Tur vs. Rokugan), Star
Wars (movie canon vs. expanded universe canon), or Dragonlance (4th age vs.
5th age). This rift isn't doing SJ a bit of good at all.

I've seen a few rifts in SJ, ranging from physics to tech levels to the
classic SJ vs. d20 SJ argument.

Spelljammer is a setting of infinite possibilities. It is a setting of
settings, where you can explore many various worlds. It is a means to go
from one of your favorite worlds to another. You can shape Spelljammer any
way you want. If you want to have a group of explorers, you can. If you
want a swashbuckling game with pirates, you can have that too. You can be
serious, you can be goofy. Then, you can mix the various styles and come up
with something totally viable and fun.

I think that's what we miss with SJ - the possibilities. There is room for
those who prefer low tech and those who like high tech. There is room for
fantasy physics and real world physics. There is room for both classic SJ
and d20 SJ.

Okay, I seem to have gone on a tangent here. Now, where's my hat...? ;)
