IMC I am planning an invasion of Scro. The city they are attack has 15 ships
and about 20 merchant vessels that could defend and the city has about 1500
in the army. So how many vessels would the Scro send to attack? 30? 50?

thanks!

Good jammer, i suggest two options here, but first some light on your
exposition (2nd ed. speaking)
I assume (by the numbers you used) that this nation has experience in space
faring, so the Crew and Marines should be about 2nd to 4th level warriors,
with helmsman with a base level around 6th (traders) through 9th-12th
(battleships). The Scro shall probably have information regarding some of
the nations defenses, so are preapared accordingly, as it is an invasion,
right? And they are not coming directly from another sphere (or there
wouldn't be air enough for the crew numbers i shall put...); With that in
mind:

1)IF you put the Scro ships manned by some of our tusked friends, but with
the bulk of warriors composed of rag-tag humanoids (ogres, goblins, and
others of the inferior lot) but in GREAT NUMBERS, the Scro would probably
use their Mantis Ship grappling abilities with the tradesman, while keeping
the major ships battling the 15 defenders. These other Scro ships would be
full of supreme deadly scro, gunpowder and gauntlets flashing. That way i
would make:

3 Battlewagons - Full of Scro armed to the Teeth (around 400-500 fighting
crew total for the ships)
10 Mantis e around 30 assorted 30-45 ton class ships - For the traders
killing. (of these 6 Mantis would help the Battlewagons, a least stay close)
Mantis with normal crew (around 60 per ship: 600 scro!) Assorted ones with a
little more... (60-90 humanoids, mainly goblins, hobgoblins and some ogres
for the club bashing...) Total assorted: around 1500, BUT they are a lot
weaker than the human(?) defenders, whose level ability is greater.

2)IF you put ONLY Scro on the decks, meaning: They shall die surely by our b
ites and punchs and trumpets (starwheels!). There would be less ships, but
prone to boarding actions, as the higher SR of the defenders troopers would
make it difficult to manage a distanced battle. That would make:

3 Battlewagons - Full of Scro armed to the teeth and shouting for blood
(would guarantee the safety of the boarding vessels by staying close at
hand, shooting passing fast ships) (Around 300-400 this time)
20-25 Mantis - Manned by a full crew of scro (75 per ship - 1500 scro, they
mean to win, right?)

I truly love mass combat (reminds me of old Companion Rules, i still
use'em!!!) AND Scro. ;)

Hope, this will help!
