It depends on the sphere, but in my SJ games, in any sphere with a
relatively normal sun, the whole place is lit up light
daytime, unless you are behind some sort of planetary body.
Within a certain range of the sun it becomes very bright,
but it does not become dim near the crystal sphere. Light,
over the centuries, has had plenty of time to get there.

There are exceptions to this, of course, but that is the standard.
