No doubt, some of the better quality works out there do come from the fans.
When I first went to Beyond the Moons, that's what I saw - new crystal
spheres to explore and new possibilities.  Above all, it was fun!

I am, by no means, saying that Andy Collins' materials are superior to
Beyond the Moons or classic Spelljammer (although I think it could be
integrated into the overall SJ universe).  What I am saying is that his SJ
materials have been printed in a WotC product, therefore the prestige of his
position as a "professional" game designer grants perceived officialdom to
his works by your average fan.

In other words, fans see his materials in print, see further materials on
his site, and state that they are official, whether they truly are or not.
It's all about perception.

Totally agreed.

Already, Beyond the Moons is set up to where people can submit materials on
just about any version of SJ they want.  With that already in place, I think
Static should just do whatever he wants, and have some fun.  When you work
on something and you're having fun, those around you have fun as well.
