"The best approach seems to be keeping BtM internally consistent and not worrying about the outside world." I have to disagree respectfully. It would be much better to be a repository of information on all editions, with no heed to any conflicts, and THEN also provide a coherent home brew version that uses or disregards other stuff from the site. It would be a much more effective way for people interested in playing Spelljammer to compare things for themselves. Also a lot of things can be created that aren't rules dependent at all. If things are clearly described DMs can then create their own statistics for them, for example a new weapon idea that just says "can burn through normal decking wood in a minute" is a weapon that can destroy hard wood in 1 combat round, and can then be extrapolated from there. 3e is going the way of 2e only quicker even as we speak so it will soon be one more PAST rules iteration when the D&D 2003 / 3.1e / 4e comes out. I don't see quite the same dichotomy between rules edition as some do anyway. I also think notes like "AC: (3e): 24 (2e): -4" aren't too clumsy. It's a small effort. I have converted 3,000+ monsters, items etc. in this way and the more you do the easier it gets - like it gets a LOT easier - and the rules "differences" don't seem so huge. Maths is maths after all. Beyond the Moons has a small vociferous following, which is great, and it certainly beats the AWFUL pastiche of Spelljammer from Dungeon magazine IMO, but inclusivity is better than exclusivity. There are a lot of other spelljammer groups and spelljammer-esque groups and they could be brought closer together rather than letting HASBRO of Borg drive them further apart. Despite what the Dragonstar producers allege, I have discovered from personal list visiting and research that a surprising number of people have bought their first two "core" books purely to update and glom ideas for relaunches of Spelljammer games, for example.
