Since 3e came out I have not had the chance to run a SJ game,
but when I do get a chance, it will be using 3e. I have washed
my hands of the previous incarnations of D&D, and so for me
the answer is clear.
I think 3e is _more_ suited to SJ than 2e, personally, especially
when it comes to the swashbuckler style that I like in my 3e
games. Plus, things such as feats and prestige classes do
a good job of adding distinction to characters from different
regions of Arcane Space. The d20 OGL just makes this even
easier.
