First Floor, 6. Eating Hall: In the conversion this hall is still a
mess hall. It has not been destroyed, however. It is set with plain
wooden tables and benches. A head table is covered with a cloth and
has chairs with cushions in the seats. The mess is otherwise empty.
First Floor, 7. Kitchen: In the conversion this area is used to store
kitchen items. Everything from oil and wood to pots, pans, utensils,
plates, bowls, and mugs can be found here. Most of the items are made
of copper and sealed with the stamp of Poisson^Òs dwarves. There is
another of the single, round portholes here, just as in area 4.
First Floor, 8. Pantry: In the conversion this room is the tower^Òs
library. The shelves are filled both with religious texts as well as
historical and fictional ones. There is also a small section of books
containing music, poetry, and the like. Black Molly has thoroughly
examined this room^Òs contents for treasure but is still in the process
of going through the various volumes for clues. She has assigned
several of the slaves to perform the task. If PCs show up here without
the alarm being raised they will be treated with hostility but not
attacked. Black Molly has not given them any orders regarded newcomers
other than her crew so unless PCs pretend to be members of the crew the
Water Cultists will expect them to leave. If they refuse then Riebald
will attack, ordering his two assistants to help him. They attack to
subdue but if brought to less than ½ hps will attempt to surrender. If
not allowed to surrender they will retreat. Regardless, if battle is
joined the 4 students will try to warn the rest of the tower of the
PCs^Ò presence.
Riebold, hm Mnk7: HD 7d8; hp 37; Init +4; Spd 50 ft.; AC 18; Atk +6/+3
melee (1d8+1, unarmed); SQ evasion, stunning attack, unarmed strike,
still mind, slow fall 30 ft., purity of body, wholeness of body, leap
of the clouds; AL LN; SV Fort +5, Ref +9, Will +8; Str 13, Dex 18, Con
10, Int 17, Wis 16, Cha 16.
Skills and Feats: Balance+14, Climb+11, Jump+11, Listen+13, Move
Silently+14, Profession (Scribe)+13, Swim+11, Tumble+14; Deflect
Arrows, Improved Trip, Alertness, Ambidexterity, Blind-Fight,
Endurance.
Possessions: holy symbol of Indra
Notes: Riebald is in charge of the initial training given Indra^Òs
monks in the Water Cult. He has chosen to conduct it out here not only
so they can see the water and reflect on it but also because the
solitude helps focus the training.
Dorin, hm Mnk5: HD 5d8+5; hp 26; Init +1; Spd 40 ft.; AC 14; Atk +4
melee (1d8+1, unarmed); SQ evasion, stunning attack, unarmed strike,
still mind, slow fall 20 ft., purity of body; AL LN; SV Fort +5, Ref
+5, Will +6; Str 12, Dex 12, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 14, Cha 9.
Skills and Feats: Climb+9, Jump+9, Listen+10, Move Silently+9,
Profession (Scribe)+10, Swim+9, Tumble+9; Deflect Arrows, Alertness,
Ambidexterity, Endurance.
Possessions: holy symbol of Indra
Notes: Dorin is Riebald^Òs assistant. He is jealous of Riebald and
especially of Lani, however, and will not support them in a battle,
instead preferring to fight on his own.
Lani, hf Mnk3: HD 3d8; hp 22; Init +2; Spd 40 ft.; AC 13; Atk +3 melee
(1d6+1, unarmed); SQ evasion, stunning attack, unarmed strike, still
mind; AL LN; SV Fort +3, Ref +5, Will +4; Str 13, Dex 14, Con 11, Int
16, Wis 13, Cha 18.
Skills and Feats: Balance+8, Climb+7, Jump+7, Listen+7, Move
Silently+8, Profession (Scribe)+7, Swim+7, Tumble+8; Deflect Arrows,
Alertness, Ambidexterity, Endurance.
Possessions: holy symbol of Indra
Notes: Lani is the junior assistant to Riebald and he, like most of
the males at the tower, is completely taken with her. Her stunning
beauty is not lost on her and she uses it to entice and bedazzle,
worming favors and secrets out of others as she schemes her own rise in
power. She is always careful just to be a tease, however, always
enticing but never quite giving in as she fears what will happen if she
does (namely that she will turn the others she^Òs been manipulating
against her and the game will be up). Lani is extremely jealous of
other women that come to the tower, even if they are ugly, and does
everything she can to make their time unbearable. A few have even left
with [^Óaccidental^Ô] scars that mar their looks. She is careful not to
drive them from the cult, however, lest she incur displeasure from
above or, worse yet, they choose to defect to the Susanowo part of the
cult.
Students, hm&f Com1: HD 1d4; hp 3, 3, 1, 1; Init +1; Spd 30 ft.; AC
11; Atk Unarmed; AL LN; SV Fort +0, Ref +1, Will +3; Str 11, Dex 12,
Con 11, Int 12, Wis 13, Cha 10.
Skills and Feats: Jump+4, Listen+4, Move Silently+4, Profession
(Scribe)+4, Swim+4, Tumble+8; Alertness, Endurance.
Possessions: holy symbol of Indra
Notes: These three women and one man are training to be monks. They
fight only if cornered or ordered to by someone higher up in the cult
(right now, anyone) or Black Molly.
First Floor, 9. Sand Store: In this conversion, this is now the
pantry. Food and spices are stored here along with barrels of fresh
water as well as some wines and two kegs of ale, both partially full.
When she leaves, Black Molly intends to loot this area.
First Floor, 10. Sleeping Quarters: In this conversion this area is
the kitchen. Several large ovens stand against the wall and there are
counters and cabinets and racks and hooks throughout. Anyone carefully
examining the ovens that is familiar with stonework will realize they
are a much more recent addition to this room. There are a number of
knives and cleavers in here that may be used as daggers and hand axes
respectively in case of battle.
Ground Floor, 11. Equipment Store: This area is used as a common area
and area to greet visitors. Since the only visitors are other members
of the cult and the occasional official from Poisson, this area sees a
lot of use as a common area. Tapestries cover the walls, unlike in the
other rooms detailed so far, and the area is better lit with more
continual flame torches set throughout. Bloodstains can be found on
the rugs that cover the floor and several items of furniture were
destroyed or damaged in the fight. The damaged items have simply been
heaped in one corner.
Ground Floor, 12. Entry Chamber: This is the entryway to the tower.
The single reinforced door can be barred from within, though the bar
currently leans against the wall, unused.
Ground Floor, 13. Provision Store: In the conversion this area is now
the monk^Òs quarters. Since the monks are upstairs in area 8, this room
is currently unoccupied. Plain wooden beds with simple reed mats
rather than mattresses line this room. This communal dormitory is set
up to house up to 20 people, though only 7 beds are used right now.
Under one of the unused beds^Ò mats a forgotten silver coin can be
found. Otherwise all valuables are locked in the chests at the end of
each of the occupied beds. The students have no possessions at all but
the three senior monks each has a few personal possessions of some
worth (Black Molly will take them before she leaves, just as she^Òll
take her slaves with her). Riebald^Òs chest holds a silver and gold
inlaid bowl, a gift from his parents when he successfully finished the
initial training as a monk of Indra (55 gpv). There is also a purse
that holds 20 sp, 15 gp, and 37 cp. Dorin^Òs chest holds an elegantly
inscribed wakizashi (an oriental dagger) worth 45 gp, a potion of cure
light wounds, and a purse with 47 gp, 14 sp, and 12 cp. Lani has
hidden away some diaphanous, sensual clothing, two potions of love, a
purse with 15 pp, 12 gp, 47 sp, and 82 cp, and a +1 dagger.
Additionally, several weapon racks stand at each end of the room and
hold well used weapons of all the types monks are proficient in.
Ground Floor, 14. Privy: This area is the personal quarters of the
highest ranking person at the tower. Naturally, at the moment that is
Black Molly. Black Molly took over the abbot^Òs room as her own and
will be found here during the day if no alarm has been raised. If
disturbed she will fight back with all her powers, seeking to enslave
the PCs. She will also call for aid and order her minions to subdue
the PCs. See her description for her tactics.
In addition to a nice writing desk and a small shelf of personal
books, there is a wardrobe with fine clothes as well as ones for
everyday wear, and armor stand, a weapon rack holding a heavy crossbow
and case of 10 bolts, and a large chest. Black Molly has already
ransacked the chest but dropped two silver coins that are still hidden
in its bottom. PCs may notice the bed is large enough for two people
even though only one is supposed to dwell here (more than one abbot has
misused their power or simply had amorous pursuits).
