    Kind of...there's two contradictory thoughts on this:

1) When you double the distance from the sun, you cut the light recieved by
1/4th.  Basic physics.  So at a distance of 200 million miles, the sun gets
real feeble (assuming a sun like our own) and is pushing the edge of the
so-called 'habitable zone'.  At 400 million miles, light is only 1/16th as
strong as on earth, probably unable to support most plants.  In spheres like
Greyspace & Krynnspace, the light at the outer planets would be
non-existent.  Twilight conditions at high noon, without a moon.

2) HOWEVER (*BIG* HOWEVER), SJ has no concept of a 'habitable zone'.  Worlds
out 2-3 billion miles from the sun support life much like we see here on
earth, as do worlds at mere 10 million miles or closer.  So SJ's light
physics aren't quite the same, and can even vary from sphere to sphere.
