OT: Campaign idea

I know that this list isn't exactly the place to present this since it isn't
Spelljammer related, so I humbly ask our elustrious admin's forgiveness.
However, this is the only mailing list relating to D&D to which I am
subscribed and want some opinions.

I developed an idea last night with a friend of mine about starting up a
campaign based on the Gargoyles animated series that was popular a few years
back.  The idea is to have each player roll up a 1st-level gargoyle
character and start the campaign in a fantasy/medieval setting.  After a few
months of playing the fantasy setting, the characters would be transported
to modern day (basically when I purchase the d20 Modern CRB) and continue
the campaign from there.

I would appreciate any thoughts/ideas on this matter.  But please, send them
