Re: I'm back, and I have another blashphemous idea

Um...2020? Why not go a little farther into the future? I mean, okay, you
could project some political trends forward, and pick up some plot
ideas...but twenty years isn't going to mean all that much.

I mean, we don't currently have helicopter pads on every roof, super-light
warm blankets (that lady down the street with a down comforter would be a
kook), we don't rely on nuclear ovens to thaw huge cubes of soup....
And that was what they predicted in the '50s. If they couldn't do it in the
50 years they expected, well, how is anything going to change between now
and 20 (well, 18) years from now...?
It's not going to be much of a technology thing, anyway...I suppose it could
all be politics...third world war and whatnot...though, how that would  work
with a gate into a fantasy universe I shudder to guess.
