Your argument was a variance in the weapon. So either you're good
enough to adjust to that variance or the weapon is useless in standard
space combat as well. Either way, the end result is I can hit Bral at
60 miles easily under the current rules.

I've pointed it out several times so far myself.

Really? So exactly what are the chances of a large weapon at range
hitting a ship that's sitting absolutely still while it's doing the
same? That's exactly the scenario we're discussing. I still assume
that if neither ship is moving and I'm in range I can hit every time.
This isn't a question of does my weapon strike hard enough/in the right
place to do damage either. Anywhere I hit is a hit and that's all I
care about. The above example suggests I'm trying to hit at a range of
1 and 1/3 hexes, far less than max range for most large weapons. In
order to be useful, then, I have have to use large weapons that can hit
another ship, sitting still, at their maximum range. So my margin of
error, in degrees, is considerably less than you've even given evidence
for.

I didn't dispute your numbers, just said I never checked them myself.
I have assumed your math is correct.
