Not neccessarily (in fact almost certainly not). This is why large weapons don't always hit (whoops, I rolled an 8 on my to-hit roll, I guess the catapult's firing pin didn't release smoothly). When they do hit, it's either a fluke, or the weapon was adjusted just right for that particular shot, making aiming with accuracy possible. > And with magic and exceptional crews and exceptional weapons > (weapons of quality or whatever you want to call them) they get even > more accurate. Well, obviously. In fact I mentioned exactly this several posts ago. > No. Doing a long range bombardment, using your figures (I'll assume > they're basically correct, I haven't checked) I will have a ~.15 mile > variance (2.09 miles divided by 14). So you're basing your assumptions on the 'fact' that a large weapon will always be able to hit a target the size of a ship at standard ranges? Sorry, but that's flat out wrong. Oh, and incidentally, my numbers were based on simple geometry and angles.
