Not true.  Mangoes would be rarer so they would be a luxury and people
would be more willing to pay the higher price.  You could sell them to
nobles for parties and priests and mages for spell components.  At
least by your reasoning.  Mine says preserving them isn't such a cost
and they can be shipped much further.
