In my experience.............. play with 100 yard squares for some time now, is that only the long range spells will have any impact on combat. Only spells with range 400 ft. + 40/lvl will do anything outside the own square. This sometime bugs the hell out of my players..... but the system works. Flits3 Http://kickme.to/flits3 That's a good one, then an encounter would involve much smaller distances, twenty hexes as two thousand yards, you could see a ship the size of a galleon for example at that range. Nice idea Paul. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Westermeyer" <westermeyer.3@???.edu> To: <SPELLJAMMER-L@??????.???????.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 04, 2002 4:38 AM Subject: [SPELLJAMMER] Tactical Speed > I'll toss an idea into the shark pool for folks to shred:) What do > you think of changing the size of hexes down to 100 yards from 500? > While keeping SR as noted (SR 1 = 1 hex of tactical movement). Thus, > spells would not be as completely useless beyond a hex and flying > creatures like pegasai would become much more interesting:) > -- > "We sleep safely in our beds, only because rough men stand guard in > the night, ready to visit violence upon those who would do us harm." > H.G.
