i know he's a freelancer.  i didn't realize "freelancer" and "lead
designer" were incompatible.  but, in any case, i'll just believe you
that he's not the driving force or primary creator any more--i don't
have any FR products less than a decade old, and even those are in
storage, so i can't very well check for myself.  i do know that his
name used to show up on the vast majority of FR products (as author),
and it's an outgrowth of his home campaign, so i'd hardly say
assuming he's the lead designer is "baseless".  unwarranted?  maybe.
ill-informed or behind-the-times?  sure.  but far from baseless.

your implication that the people now writing FR don't like FR is what
strikes me as a baseless assumption, unless you produce some
evidence.  the fact that they took FR in a direction you don't like
is not in and of itself proof that they didn't/don't like FR.
