I am looking at the Q'nidar and found myself wondering how I wanted to run the monster. It is originally listed as immune to fire but if it take too much damage from fire it crystallize. I was wondering if the following might represent best how its power best work into 3E. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Fire Resistance (Ex): Q'nidar have fire resistance 20. Fire Absorption (Ex): The Q'nidar can absorbs fire damage that exceeds it fire resistance. When doing so the Q'nidar does not take this fire damage but converts it to energy for it to digest latter. The q'nidar can store/absorb a maximum of 64 points of fire damage. Once absorb this energy the Q'nidar consumes this energy at a rate of 8 points per hour. Crystallize (Ex): The Q'nidar begins to crystallize once it starts to take fire damage that has exceeded its fire resistance 20 and it fire absorption limits. The crystallization process is complete when the Q'nidar takes damage equal to it normal hit point total. Each hit point of crystallization counts as hit point of damage for propose of slaying the beast. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ So let me know what you think of this approach of the Q'nidar's unique ability to crystallize from fire even though by 2E it is immune to fire. I took the above approach cause I have players that would state that if they threw enough fireballs and other such attacks at the Q'nidar it should be possible to crystallize them. So the crystallization is a form of fire damage to Mark T. Doolan The Shattered Fractine http://www.shatteredfractine.com
