Get a copy of Aristotle's works, available in the Penguin translation (okay for non-professionals) or the Loeb Classical library translation (excellent because the original Greek is on each facing page, so one can easily check questionable translations). Loeb is in most college libraries, penguin available at most good bookstores. Other translations exist, I can't vouch for them though. Also do a web search on early astronomy, check out also the work of Ptolemy. Also look for books in your library's catalog on the history of astronomy. Oh, most good Western Civilization textbooks have some info on that, but don't check in the Ancient Greek section, instead skip ahead to the 1700s and the Scientific Revolution, that's where astronomy gets discussed, usually. Sorry I can't recall _exactly_ which of Aristotle's books his astronomy information is in (I was more interested in his theories of government, philosophy, and veterinary medicine) but it shouldn't be too hard to find. If I remember I'll check at work tomorrow, bet i have a few ciatations there you could use. -- "We sleep safely in our beds, only because rough men stand guard in the night, ready to visit violence upon those who would do us harm."
