Trying to scratch my mind for a quote from Spock from One of the Star Trek movies. Something about "...Infinite Possiblies ..." It seem that WotC does not want nothing to do with Spelljammer being part of 3E (D20 is OK). Thier is nothing to keep the Phlogiston as being a Transitive Plane that allows travel between alternate prime materials. On the sj3E group someone (mbillard I believe) wrote up a very nice version of Phlogiston as such. Also something to think about: Is the same Baator of the Forgotten Realms (pages 256 to 258) the same Baator of the Greyhawk Cosmology. If so they characters can cross Cosmologies by travelling to planes that span more then one (i.e., Nine Hells, Abyss, Elemental Planes ... just a thought. In my campaign intro Tenser (of Greyhawk) when players once visited Bytopia... not offical, but hey that is what DMing is all about. And if these planes can be used as jumping off points then too can the Phlogiston if it is a Transitive Plane. The last part of the Manual of the Planes allows for DMs to create other planes; be they Transitive, Alternate Prime, Demi-, Outer or Inner. Wtih the power to create those of us who want to use "Wonky" cosmologys can do so. I love to create. I have created new monsters, new alternate prime (with the world I have created), new gods (whole new pantheons in fact), new spells, new magic items, and lots of conversions. I not much like playing in others sandbox, but I will make exception when it comes to spelljammer setting! It is for this reason that I created the Shattered Fractine and in time I will likely bring it back up. Mark T. Doolan The Shattered Fractine http://www.shatteredfractine.com
