Inspired by the piccie of the man-o-war above the water planet recently posted to Beyond the Moons, here is Tuli, a strange planet I wrote up for pleasurespace this afternoon. I know im meant to be working on heartspace, but sometimes you get an idea and just go ;) Tuli is a planet within a bubble of air, within a bubble of water, within yet another bubble of air, which in turn is within a final bubble of water. A cross section of the planet would show two water "rings", an air ring, and an air bubble around a large rock/coral formation at the center of the planet. Through the use of high magic this planet was modified from its original status of a size C waterworld, magic that has long since passed from the aquitc elves' culture. Visitors to the planet must dive through the thicker, outer bubble of water, which takes but fifteen minutes at tactical speed, during which their ship is subject to thrashing rain and slight air loss, but is undamaged. Sealed ships, or at least those relatively sealed (ie standard enclosure or better) are safe such, but a partially open or fully open ship cannot go through without suffering 1d4 per ten hull points in damage. Tuli itself has large pillars of water shooting up into the "sky" and connecting with the internal ring of water (named shallow sea), with a large central much thicker pillar through the center of Tuli, which is a hollow ring of rock and coral. The city of Shala'Tuli (the main tourist attraction), is made of gigantic, beautiful coral towers, coloured in the entire range of the spectrum. Some mana crystal mining takes place on the inside of Tuli, but mainly it is a home for the aquatic elves to live in peace, and entertain tourists - of which they are many. Inside the large air bubble is Tuli's sun, again created through high magic due to the planet's distance from the sun, and the water's blocking of what light does reach it. Tuli is also surrounded with colourful rings of coral remnants, sent up when the water of the planet was reformed long ago by the high magic. It is, unfortunately, a hazard to shipping, as per standard debris rules but at double the damage. Luckily, the rings are only half a mile thick, and thus pose little of a problem. Shatera This is the high magic created sun of Tuli, orbiting the planet inside the deep sea (the thicker of the two water bubbles), providing the land with its light. Said light is still somewhat muted, but the currents in the water of shallow sea create an effect upon Tuli's surface not unlike clouds in a night sky, and the light comes through with a slightly bluish tinge.
