With this in mind, let me address something I've been wanting to say
regarding the "wonky" physics in relation to crystal spheres.

IIRC, didn't the 3e Manual of the Planes bring up a point that different
planar structures could be used to fit the taste of the individual campaign
being played?  One campaign could have the standard "planar wheel" format
while another campaign could have something totally different, and that's
okay if the DM and the players like it?

If that is the case, why can't there be the option of different cosmologies
to suit different campaigns?  Some people have already removed the spheres
from their campaigns even before this article was even mentioned, and it
works for them just fine.  Sure, the writers of the upcoming article said
they removed crystal spheres for the purposes of said article.  Nothing is
preventing them from being re-implemented into your campaign.  If you like
them, put them back in.
