During my time as Admin here on the SJML I think I could
count the number of times I have ended a thread on two hands
and still have one or two fingers left. I could do the same thing
on one hand for the number of times I have given out warnings.
I try to let the list manage itself, and give some threads a chance
to peter out before I step in. It usually works.

I have only every put someone on review once, and that includes
my years as Admin for the Mystara mailing list as well. Now, today
it is twice. I do not wish to make it more.

When I became the Admin of the SJML I lifted the topic bans
that the previous Admins had put in place, such as the topic
of Dark Sun and SJ. I would rather watch for potential flames
and allow for a possible good discussion than simply say that
people can't even try.

Well, at this point, I am essentially putting a ban on the
discussion of 2e vs. 3e. I say "essentially" because it is a
broad concept, and there may be times when it comes up in
a manner different than it has this last week. Its hard to say.
But, overall, here is a rule to live by...

If you like one edition over the other, good for you. But, do you
need to share this opinion with the list? If so, do you need to
also disparage other editions in order to do so? If yes, then
keep it to yourself. No one is going to convince someone else
of the superiority of any edition of D&D.

The fanbase of SJ is very, very small. We are very much in
the minority of D&D players. We are the nerds of the nerds.
Getting in a pissing match with each other because some
people like low to hit numbers and some like high to hit
numbers is silly. While some feel otherwise, it is all D&D,
and we all play Spelljammer.

Here soon I will be updating the list guidelines to reflect this.
I am also going to try to make monthly announcements about
the location of the list guidelines, to make sure everyone is
aware of them.
