        This is part of the reason why I started all this with the 'Space
Travel without Helms' thread.  Magic items, no matter what, are going to
be more expensive than most mid-sized ships.  One of the biggest
compaint about the setting is the helm prices & how the whole economy
didn't make sense.  Figured since we had funky phyics to begin with, why
not run with it? :)

        That's one bad thing about the 3e DMG: there is no such thing as
modifiers for social classes.  I think I would have had a chart of
modifiers at least for NPCs (that and an NPC class generator).  Maybe
something like:

beggar          x1/10
poor            x1/4
average         x1/2
rich            x2
wealthy         x10
very wealthy    x100

        or something...:)
