No...no artifacts. I've actually been accused of running a magic-light
spelljammer game. Which means it's about normal for other settings. ;)

I'd be set for an exploration game. It's one of my favorites.

One plotline which my PCs never followed up on in my original game involved
an archaic Man-o-War being found adrift near the edge of the Known Spheres
during the end of the Vodoni Wars.

Occupied by the ongoing conflict with Vulkaran, the Elven Navy couldn't
follow up where this ship had come from. It wasn't one of theirs, nor were
any of the <recently> deceased crewmen.

Years later, after the wars, the question of the unknown ship comes up. The
Navy, still reeling from their losses against the Vodoni and finding
themselves involved in a prolonged conflict with the Scro, wants to know
about the potential source of ships and manpower. Outfitting a ship, they
send it off into uncharted space in the hopes of finding answers.

Now, the PCs are various respected individuals known to the Navy. For one
reason or another, they're asked to join the expedition. The plus to this
is the Navy covers the check for a good ship and a crew (cannon-fodder). The
downside is <initially> the hierarchy on the ship is fairly rigid.

Thoughts?

Merrick
