I would think it would depend on how advanced there society were in the
Magical field. AS with any race not all drow society are equal in magical
advancment.

Teleporting a 100 ton vessel some miles up into space is definately a
HUUUUUUUGE feat.
I say digging a vertical shaft with desintegration spells and make it
zigzagging so no direct sunlight is able to penetrate into the drow city.

Some planeshifting ability is possble, due to the link with the outer planes
but then we get into the argument of how much different the spelljammer is
from planeshape.

I would vote for magical digging.... since the drow use adamantite drills on
their ships... why not using them to dig a shaft for access to the surface
world??

Given normal drow magical power--no shaft at all.  I'd suggest the use of
massive teleportation pads.
