Well I don't know how you guys will like this but many moons ago before the great Spelljammer box set existed. We played the Dragonlance campaign (all the modules) but with a twist. You see at the time my DM didn't like the AD&D rules (to constrictive) so in it's place we played Star Frontiers. So the campaign started by a mysterious white sphere on day appeared on are cargo ship and teleported us to a desert planet (were we went through the Desert of Desolation series) After that then we were transported to a planet that we never heard of (Krynn.) Krynn in his campaign was once a mining colony of the Pan Galactic organization about three hundred years before the present. Contact with this colony was lost 250 ago and every expedition to the planet was never heard from again. So Pan Galactic wrote it off. Anyway this orb transported us to this planet which apparently had a tech level of 3 (about 1400AD earth time)Some sort of "Cataclysm" happened to the planet. So basically the "Wizards" were those people that had found some old technology from the past. So suffice to say that when our party showed up on the seen, the common folk regarded us as "wizards." Now apparently one of the factors that brought about the "Cataclysm" was a invasion from a alien race called the Sathar. The sathar's technology was based on biotech which will come into play later. Anyway their invasion was not successful at least as far as taken the planet for themselves. Now the other factors of the "Cataclysm" apparently affected them to. Now during their invasion the modified local beast (dinosaurs) into Cyber-dragons. There were many different types. Now 300 years later someone discovered the art of creating these dragons (i.e. or finding some in stasis) and this tipped of the "War of the Lance" which the DM took us through. Another aspect of this conflict was the Orbs. Apparently there were several of these orbs (of different colors) and they each had "recruited" people to due there bidding. These orbs were on both sides of the conflict and wielded enormous power yet they only used their powers through one woman on each of these groups. Apparently we were apart of a game or war between these orbs. So anyway our PC went through the Dragonlance modules (modified to the DM's campaign) at one point we fought a battle of the High Clairist (sp?) Tower, which turned out to be a old ship of unknown design. From what we could find out it had predated the colony. During the battle we were able to get a couple of gun turrets operational and use them during the battle however a team (commanded by the Red orb which was one of our enemies) was able to capture on of the gun turrets. so for several minutes we had both towers shooting at one another. During this time we were also loosing the battle with the dragon lords. They penetrated the walls. Also I did not mention this before but the "dragon lances" were actually aircraft called Lancers that we found in on of the hangers in the High Clerist Tower. They were a lot like Veritechs from the Robotech series, However they did not look like them but they did have three configurations that they could transform into. We were only able to get two of them operational before the battle, which was good because we only had two pilots in the party and none of the local military knew what a plane was. We also able to get two transformable tanks operational. The "Dragon Orbs" were a Sathar restraining/homing device that affected the onboard computer of certain cyberdragons, however the did not work all the time. During our travels before the battle we attained one of these. Anyway at the start of the battle when the Dragon Lords army was moving on the HighClerist Tower we sent out several units to attack the lead elements of the DL army.(We were using Battlesystems to run this battle)We sent the Tanks out with our attacking units and at first we were winning that was until the Cyberbears showed up (at least that is what we called them, DM never told us what their actual name was.) They were huge bearlike creatures with mounted heavy lasers and rocket launchers, they were mostly machine. We had encountered them before but only two of them (When we encountered the White Dragon). But at this battle there were 20 of them fighting as a unit. This was unusual because up until now the Tech we encountered was rare. Well needles to say our Tanks were overwhelmed and our Heavy Calvary was destroy (what can a bunch of knights with lances do to a 4 ton Bear with lasers and Claws that can rip a horses apart without breaking a nail) Our attack turned into a route. On top of all this in the skies Cyberdragons saturated to show up. Our Lances attacked them (My PC was on of the pilots) Shot down a couple when all of the sudden all power in the Lances went out. The DL forces had launched a EMP missile which took out most electronics. Now this had limited affects on Cyber Creatures, they could not use and mounted weapons but they did have their natural attacks which were pretty good. Both Planes crashed I was able to bail out but the other PC was not so lucky, he died. As I was floating down to the battlefield in my parachute the Red Orbs female (in fully possess mode) flew up to me ripped off the parachute and took me over the battle field to where the Cyberbears and the now Powerless Tanks and calvary fought. She theaten to drop me (she was tormenting me the whole time she had me) at that moment our female showed up (in fully posses mode) with the Dragon highlord hanging by his foot. She threaten to drop him if I was not released. The stand off only lasted a few minutes (of coarse there was dialog going on between the PC of the white orb female and the red orb NPC) then the Red orb woman dropped me. At this time Sybella (the white orb female) dropped the Highlord both ladies tried to catch us before we hit the ground. The both succeeded (they actually made a difficult roll to do this. The DM did not believe in fudging rolls which is one of the reasons why we liked his DMing) Anyway Sybella was fling me back to the Tower when we noticed the two turrets shooting at each other. Well after several rounds of shooting and missing each other the bad guys scored a hit killing two of our PC's in the turret. Shortly after this several Knights and men at arms broke into the turret that the bad guys had found but discovered no one there. Well at this point the bad guys were over running the walls and the Cyberdragons were attacking the defenders on the walls we had 4 PC still alive (out of 12 that started the battle)however one of them was in critical condition in the make shift hospital. On the battlefield we could see more of the DL Army marching toward the Tower. At that point the Turrets farther up on the Tower (which we did not explore started firing at the Army on the field and the Golden, Silver, Bronze Cyberdragons showed up to fight on our side. (We did not know what the hell was going on.) I forgot to mention this before but the turrets fired chemical shells. They could be fired with out using electronics. After that the battle was intense but we finally won. We lost 2/3 of our army and only 2 PC's remained. (The one in the hospital was crushed to death along with a hundred others when a CyberDragon was shoot down and crashed into the hospital.) It was the best campaign that any of us has ever been in. The DM was very good at what he did. He was good at in depth plots as well as sorry telling. Most of us like combat and he was able to pull that off as well. His campaigns always had a high degree of Role-playing and combat. I only gave an overview here not quit doing him justice I'm afraid. Anyway to tie this in the High Clarist tower could have been a old spelljamming or Tech Ship. I know it was a rather long winded way of saying it but I did have fond memories of that campaign:) -----Original Message----- From: Tilaurin [mailto:tilaurin@?????????????????.com] Sent: Thursday, October 11, 2001 4:59 AM To: SPELLJAMMER-L@??????.???????.com Subject: Re: [SPELLJAMMER] Krynnspace: The Legend Reborn > Keep watching Compendium, guys! Suffice to say we should do some more work on the felljammer :) I've also been toying with an idea of having either a rogue flying citadel, or (appropriate to my campaign but certainly not the canon material) the High Clerists Tower itself, moved to an asteroid around krynn, either of these two with a nice lil Death Knight ;) Ideas?
