Hail all! I've been catching up on a bit of the traffic on the list of late, and I feel that maybe it is time for me to come out of lurker mode. As many of you know, I am chairman of the Whitestone Council in Dragonlance. The WC was originally based off of the SJ council, and has gone it's own direction. Putting an official site together is a tough process. It takes lots of trial and error and many growing pains. Here's some advice that I have for you guys. Take it as you will. Democracy - I have found that this doesn't work in this sort of setting. I would suggest that you set up a permanent council. I would definitely suggest that Static, Adam Miller, and Paul be the core of the council, as I perceive you three to be the existing core. Canon & Submissions - With the Nexus, we have a different system of operation. We have it set up to where we have the official rules, then we have unofficial rules. My suggestion is to use BTM for 2e, and Compendium for 3e (official and unofficial alike). Showcase the fans talents. Also, think about automatically adopting some rules as official, if they work with existing official material. I would also suggest that you guys determine what is canon and what isn't. Be aggressive. Staff - A small and decisive staff is good. Your existing number of five is good. The question would be if the existing council would be willing to work on a permanant basis or not. Community - I can not stress how important community involvement is. Maintain a presence. Show the progress that you are making. I like how you have the contests. That's really good. Anyway, that's all I can think of for now. I think you guys do a good job, but maybe some reorganization would help. If you guys ever want to get together and compare how the sites operate so that we might learn a little from each other, I'm always available. BTW, I will be working from time to time on developing Krynnspace further. I'm pretty busy, so keep hounding me about it. I also want to update the Felljammer to 3e (as soon as Tilaurin and I can get together on it). Anyway, that's just some thoughts from the perspective of another official site. Take from it what you wish, but be certain to always do things your way. Talk to you guys soon.
