Subject: Re: Before the machine gun
... there was an extremely nasty cannon shot: the "mitraglia" (I don't know
the right english term, so I'll use the italian). It was a load of smallish,
mixed junk like old nails, lead peebles etc, shot by a light bombard. The
"mitraglia" was used as extremely effective anti-personnel weapon at close
range (tipically in boardings).

Stats:

Mitraglia shot
(use only on light bombards)
note: ignores non-magical armor

range:
the mitraglia hits anything in a hemi-cone originating from the muzzle, 40
yd long, 25 yd diameter at the base.

personnel damage:
less than 10 yards from the muzzle: 4d6
10 to 20 yd: 3d6
20 to 30 yd: 2d6
30 to 40 yd: 1d6

hull damage: 1d2 - 1 at less than 20 yd, else 0

a crew hit by a mitraglia shot also has some penalties to morale (like the
penalties for hostile magic)

life in the Galaxy must be
a) something akin to seasick - space-sick, time sick, history sick or some
such thing, and
b) stupid."
