Miscellaneous Dwarves Herein are listed many of the other dwarves of note in the Kingdom, or on it's outskirts. Ol' One Eye (F4, CN, Ore, 325): Almost as old as the Maharian Duke, this craggly, eye-patched dwarf is a legend amongst the Ore dwarves. He makes his way through Mithore and Sparklebelt, finding veins of precious materials where others smelled only stone. He is a master at finding metals, and possibly the greatest ore-hunter ever to have lived. Often, he will hire on a crew of Ore dwarves, making them help him find a vein, and then leave it to them, with a certain percentage of the profits being sent to his account on Gortha. He constantly says he hopes to retire when he is four hundred, and leads an expedition to find a vein on a yearly basis. The last ten years he has done it from a port in Sparklebelt, and ship-owners, and would-be-miners have begun flocking to it's docks as a yearly chance to gain riches. All, however, respect his wishes of not following the chosen ship, as he remembers people incredibly well, and would boycott them, likely leading to a similar boycott by the mining factions. M'horr (F12, LG, Gor, 290): The Templar leader upon Clangeddin's Mighty, M'horr the Mighty is a strong, yet thoughtful and wise dwarf. He could have very easily trained in any of the dwarven faiths, and long ago would have risen to their head of office, but when asked why he did not do so merely replies "I am the leader of a temple lad, aye I am". He has a long black beard, and wields his axe with an average strength, but deadly speed and cunning. Savant Grell (Sor15, NE, Bl, 270): The current Black Dwarf Emporer, Savant Grell is a cruel sorceror, who loves capturing innocent halflings and torturing them, often to death. Why he does this is unknown, as whenever he is asked he throws a bolt of lightning at whomever asked him. There is currently a plot to overthrow him, and due to Black Dwarf law, so that he throws the first "punch" (so to speak), his attackers are going to use this to their advantage. He is a wise dwarf, but somewhat twisted and maddened by his position, and holds the Black Dwarves back from attacking the Gortharia Kingdom, knowing full well their fate would be death. Inquisitor Fenixx (Pr14/Sor10, NE, Bl, 310): The high priest of the Black Dwarves, Fenixx runs a priesthood not unlike the dreaded Spanish Inquisition. His priests wear only scarlett red robes, and are frequently accusing Black Dwarves of treason, and executing them. The inquisition holds the only group of fourgres left from the early emporer's fleet, a group of some three hundred if the four armed ogres, totally under their own control. Execution is usually slow beheading, during which the executee is sporadically healed so they stay conscious, or simple dismemberment by the fourgres if there is not time. The Hangman (F7 (Corsair), LN, Gor, 280): The famous Corsair of Agraspace, The Hangman is 25% likely to be at any random encounter including an NPC squidship, his vessel of choice. It is crewed mostly by halflings and dwarves, and his helmsman are all illusionist gnomes, whom use their talents to their captains advantage. The Hangman also has mana sails installed on his craft, but has them roleld up at most times, only using them when the helm is damaged or destroyed. He has a ring of truth, and a letter of marque from the King, giving him some incredible status among his small bretheren of pirate-hunters. Manalord Drefhin (Wi12, LN, Gor, 350): Another ancient dwarf, Manalord Drefhin is one of the (relatively) few dwarven mages in the sphere. Born and raised on Manalith, he asumed the title of Overseer Archmage only thirty years ago, after his predescessor, a human mage known only as Ben, died of old age. Drefhin studied with Ben for a time, and has since taken over the school of magic, and trains others in the art (a phrase he picked up from Ben, whom was likely a Fearunian). Zuthar (Azer, LG): King of the Azer in the sphere, only once has Zuthar had contact with "outsiders" - those not Azer. It was back during the Black Dominion's time, and he aided a small citadel in a battle against the Black Dwarf Savant's, bringing several Azer Fire Mages with him to toast the enemy. Since then, he has kept a careful watch on the sphere, but refused to act in any way. The Bright Highlander, as he is known in legend, realises the Black Dwarves are a threat, and may aid if they rise up once more. Other than this, he cares not about the sphere's enemies, although this may change depending on the ferocity of the UHWII. Pit master Vladorn (F6, LN, Sco, 200): The manager of the Scorch Dwarves, the Pit Master named so because of the Scorch Dwarves Mining Operations resembalance to pits, is a very difficult dwarf to talk to. He constantly spits, finding the water in his mouth a sour taste, and stares without blinking at the speaker, unnerving them no end. He is a very typical dwarf, and hates nearly everything. Biff Kraegor (Lv0, LN, Gor, 150): A shipwright on the Lumber moon of Aradea, Biff makes some of the best ships in the sphere. His workers are all honest, hard workers, mainly Lumber Dwarves, even though he himself is not one. His ships are slightly above cost, but have a bonus to their AR of one. Helga the Lovely (Pr16, LG, Gor, 200): The high-priestess of Haela Brightaxe in the sphere, Helga, the longbearded, is a stout, strong dwarven woman, and has won the Miss Agraspace contest for four decades running (it is a ten-yearly event). She uses her beauty to bend idiot male dwarves to the principles she holds dear, of peace, and life. Orson Buttmud (F4/T6, NG, Bar, 140): High-Bulp of the Barnacle Dwarves, Orson's home is a ruined tradesman on Aradea. He and his Barnacle Dwarf feifs constantly attempt to steal Biff's ships, so they can go into space and assumedly attack whomever they deem a threat. While their intent is noble, they are always beaten off with sticks, being incredible cowards, and the one time they managed to take a ship (which had mana sails) they crashed it into The Depths. Krellin Orthak (Lv0, LN, Ore, 185): Head of the Mithore Council, Krellin once travelled with Ol' One Eye, and the two often recount old tales of their findings. He is a fair, and wise leader, thus his position at the head of the council. Said council deals with right's disputes, trades, collecting taxes, and upholding law within Mithore. (Major) Bloodnock (F8, LN, Gor, 250): One of the generals in the Gortharia fleet, Bloodnock is often slightly confused, and puff's his moustaches out irritably almost constantly. His cries of "what what?" and "Righto Chaps!" in his almost imposible for a dwarf voice are legendary amongst the fleet, and he is a seasoned warrior. (Major) Negh'Var (F9, NG, Dep, 230): Another general of note, Negh'var served in the Hippy war (explained elsewhere, but basically a war with butterfly winged elves whom attempted to stop the dwarven lumbercamps), and hate's elves more than any other dwarf currently in the sphere (The only Gortharian inhabitants whom hate elves more than this are used as ambassadors, just to rile the elves up). (Lord-Major) Kius (F13, LG, Gor, 320): The commander in chief of the Gortharia Kingdom Fleet, Kius is a dwarf of some legend, tall (for a dwarf), stout, with a beard tucked in his belt as thick as many halflings stomachs, he wields his two-handed hammer with ferocity, and commands the fleet with a similar manner. He is brutal when he needs to be, but also surprisingly stealthy, bringing together two of the best components of a good war commander. Scarbringer (F10/Sor14, NE, Bla, 190): An infamous pirate in the sphere, Scarbringer is a black dwarf of no small sorcerous power. Wielding a black cutlass, rumoured to be BlackJammer's itself, he has cursed and cussed his way through a dozen trade fleets, and has only been captured by corsairs twice. Escaping both times through use of his magic, which he does not use in combat (leading opponents to under-estimate him), there is a 100,000gp bounty on his head if he, his ship, and its contents are taken, or 50,000gp if it is just him. (Helmsman) Forus (Wi8, LE, Gor, 240): One of the few dwarven helmsmen serving within the sphere (a dwarven mage is sometimes seen as an insult to a ship, and humans are used more often than not) Forus is a shady dwarf, whom puts on a friendly facade, and attempts to gain power behind the scenes almost non-stop. He takes any opportunity to gain wealth, and/or power, and is the co-conspirator of prince Kelgar V. (Capn'n) Scolly (F5, NG, Gor, 220): Captain of the Wildspace (Salmon) Fisheries board, Scolly is a red-bearded, bald headed, but very kind dwarf, whom enjoys nothing more than catching schools of wildspace salmon with his catamaran. He takes care of any problems with the Fisheries Board, but arranges his time so as much as possible can be spent fishing. It is not unknown for him to have a fishing rod out at spelljamming speed also, to see what he can catch floating around (Usually nothing, but he says it gives him time to think about stuff). He has a very simple vocabulary, and had spelljamming never been discovered in this sphere would have likely been a hermit. Note: I will put a link to the Wildspace Salmon document on Beyond The Moons as soon as I can, aswell as appropriate thanks and credit to it's author. I'm having trouble accessing BTM at the moment, sorry :) Marker (T16, NE, Gor, 190): An infamous hitman, the Marker has never been seen, and is contactable through very shady channels only. There is a standard warrant out for his arrest, and a pooled bounty of some 75,000gp for his death. It is likely he is some simple farmer somewhere, who just has a second "night job" as a highly trained killer. In any event, it is unlikely the truth will ever be known.
