Agraspace is not just another sphere filled with dwarves. In actual fact, it holds LOTS of dwarves, but quite a few other races also. Halflings, humans, ogres, drow, and even a few sparse illithids populate the sphere, and several individuals of note are listed below. Dwarves It should first be noted there are no less than 10 dwarven subraces within the Gortharia kingdom, and the Black Dwarf Empire in the outskirting asteroid belt. The following lists their type, modification to ability scores, and notes. Subrace Str Dex Con Int Wis Cha Notes Barnacle +1 +1 +1 -4 -4 -2 Basically Gully Dwarves, but constantly trying to sail ships Black -1 - +1 +1 - -4 Effectively Derro. They have reduced strength due to reliance on their magic, but a higher intelligence than most dwarves due to their arcane training. Like most dwarves, they are hard to get along with, but very arrogant and bloodthirsty also. Depth - - +1 - - -2 Duergar, but more inclined to neutral than evil - at least to the dwarven kingdom Farm - -1 +1 -1 +1 - Slow but steady, and more likeable than your average dwarf, they may not know a lot, but when they sit down and think about something they can be incredibly insightful. Gortha - - +1 - - -1 The most common dwarf in the sphere, those bred from Gortharin blood are proud and stubborn, like their interstellar cousins, and share all the same traits Lumber +1 - +1 - - -1 Once peaceful lumberjacks and carving artists of a beautiful moon, they were spurned to a war of retribution by the infamous Black Dwarf who tried to conquer the sphere. Noble - - +1 - -1 - The pompous dignitaries of Agraspace, pre-occupied with politics and tradition, relating to the populace surprisingly well, they are, however, often too preoccupied with themselves. Ore - - +1 - - -2 Miners of the sphere, mainly in the asteroid belts, somewhat squatter than most, they also relate poorly socially, spending most of their time in the mines. Scorched +1 - +2 - - -4 Living on the burned planet, these crimson-sunburnt dwarves are as tough as mithril nails, and weigh nearly a quarter again as much as a normal dwarf of their race. Due to their usually short beards, they are rather unliked, but considering the heat of their planet, they don't care much. Sea - -1 +1 - +1 -1 Underwater dwarves, with standard appearnce, but pilot underwater ships with tactical helms - slow, and not likeable, but the depths make for deep thinking and hearty bodies. Clan Warcry The current ruling body of Agraspace & Gortharia, the Warcry family gained control of the government when the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords was captured by a group of drow some 250 years ago. As per all times when the Axe was misplaced, the various dwarven clans each sent out war-parties to find the drow, and take the Axe back, thus completing the ritual that would make their representative King. Gruelok's father, Gahnash, was the one to retrieve the Axe, and Moradin's Shield still shows his triumph, as he clutches the shield high in the air, standing over several dead drow. Moradin's Shield, and the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords are explained elsewhere, but for now, it must be simply stated that the only way for one clan to loose the rule, and another to gain it, is the rare times when the Axe is somehow lost enemies. The first dwarf whom grasps the Axe again becomes King, and his triumph is show magically preserved forever in the mithril icon known as Moradin's Shield, which hangs above the wall behind the Gortharia throne King Gruelok (F10, NG, Ore, 280): The current King of Gortharia, and chief of Clan Warcry, Gruelok, like all of his family, is an Ore dwarf. When the quest for the Axe was last held, it became apparent that the drow holding the Axe were in an asteroid belt. The Warcries were in the rear of the assault fleet, but due to their knowledge of the belt, and asteroids in particular, found the drow hideout before anyone else, and Gruelok's father claimed the Axe. Passed to his son upon his death, as the standard law plays, Gruelok is a good King, and has lead many battles against the Kingdom's enemies. Recently, he has been forced to consider an alliance with the mutually despised IEN, due to the UHWII. He is an old, grizzly, but down to earth dwarf, whom is sick to death of the Noble dwarves and their political rants, and remembers the days when he could simply mine in a tunnel in peace. Queen Aralleng (Pr6, N, Nob, 240): The beautiful (by dwarven standards) young wife of Gruelok did not even meet him before their arranged marriage. To quieten the noble dwarves political uprising, wherein they wished to change the trade laws so they were not under the King's dominion (mainly because he was just an Ore dwarf after all), she is, to all appearances, fiercely in love with the king, but secretly has a lover on the side, in the Dumathoon's champion, Baron Clathok. This is a well guarded secret, known only by her personal aides, and of course Clathok himself, as Gortharia law allows divorce, and her blood family gains certain tax breaks from her marriage. She is a priestess of Haela Brightaxe. Prince Alarik (F7, LG, Gor, 160): Likely the next king of Gortharia, Alarik is proud to be the son of Gruelok, and a member of clan Warcry. He is currently courting a young priestess of Haela Brightaxe he met through his sister, and they will likely marry eventually. He has no suspicions of his mother's infidelity, as he is always by his father's side in the courtroom, and when his father is travelling he captains his own citadel, the Truestrike. Princess Haellan (Pr8, NG, Gor, 158): The beauty of the family (again, by dwarven standards), Haellan is a priestess of Haela, like her mother, and like her brother's love interest. She is the only in the family whom suspects her mother's infidelity, as her mother is also a priestess of the same faith, and she has had more opportunity to watch her than any other. She also sits at her father's side when he is in court, lending a peaceful, and honest voice to any decisions he makes (sometimes he can be TOO gruff). She currently has no love interest, as she feels she will likely be forced into an arranged marriage like Gruelok was years ago. For this reason, she keeps a strong eye on all possible courtiers, and keeps track on much of their doings through some "aquantances", whom happen to be halflings in the local thieves guild. For this reason, she is a very good source of information, but she does not hand it out willy-nilly, as she is also the one in the family with the most brains. Prince Legonik (F6/T5, LN, Dep, 120): Son of the Dumathoon champion Clathok, and Queen Aralleng, Legonik is not actually a true Warcry by blood, but this is a very well kept secret. He himself does not even know, and Aralleng was auspicious enough to cover her tracks, and make it appear as if Gruelok had really been the childs father. Clathok also does not know, so it is possibly a secret Aralleng will take to her grave, as Legonik is merely stouter than his siblings, he is not overly different. He is, however, a very rebellious young dwarf, whom owns his own hammership, and corairs his way through Agraspace with his father's letter of Marque. In and dwarven encounter with a hammership, there is a 25% chance that he is present, and attempts to search the entire ship for contraband. He is a very unhappy young dwarf, preferring a ship-board life, and the solitude of space. He has had many wenches across the sphere, but no romances to speak of. King's Champion Dreelor (F13, LG, Sco, 265): An old friend of Gruelok's, this scorched dwarf is a Templar from Clangeddin's Might (note the Templar is merely a title, nothing more, it is a state of mind, not a class or kit). Serving his king many times, Dreelor is another grumpy dwarf, but one who is honourable, and incredibly patriotic. He often stands at the foot of his King's throne in court, and draw's his axe on any who dare insult his king. As per the standard tradition, Dreelor holds the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords, as his King's champion. Clan Domathoon The previous king of the Gortharia kingdom was Kelgar II, a noble dwarf of incredible pompousness and arrogance. How the Dumathoon's came to hold the throne is a long tale, but one of some suspect, as there is a small, small rumour passing that it was the Dumathoon's whom arranged the theft of the Axe to give them the opportunity to rule in the first place. Duke Kelgar IV (Lv0, LN, Nob, 225): Another pompous dignitary like his grandfather whom held the throne, Kelgar IV has not spent more than a minute in his life holding a blade, and even then it was only for ceremonies. He abhorrs violence, faints at the sight of blood, and on the one occasion there was a security scare at his Duchy, spent the time hiding under the bed. He has the cowardice trait from the Player's Option: Skills & Powers, and for this reason hires the best mercenaries in the sphere. His army is actually quite large, but sees very little exercise time, and so is getting a little pudgy around the sailors. (Late) Queen Assarig (Lv0, LN, Nob, 180 at death): This incredibly ugly but wealthy daughter of a noble estate married Kelgar IV for his money, and his power, but eventually fell in love with him. Unfortunately, he did not realise the depth of his own feelings until she had died almost 20 years ago, a victim of heart disease brought on by the incredible ammount of fatty foods she ate. She weighed, in the end, almost half as much again as a normal dwarf, and rarely left her quarters, sitting with Kelgar IV and eating. Prince Beldor (Lv0, LN, Nob, 180): Definately the son of Kelgar IV, this cowardly noble dwarf has simply learned to hide his fear more often than not, and draws upon a small ounce of courage he has stashed away (in the form of a bottle of dwarven spirits). He is pompous like his father, but not self-centered at all, and in fact thinks very patriotically of the empire. He is one of the few dwarves whom knows truly that the Dumathoon's arranged their previous rule, and feels he owes a debt to the sphere for this deception - just a debt that can be paid better if he is alive. Prince Kelgar V (T4, LE, Nob, 175): A scheming brat of a dwarf, Kelgar V is nothing like any of his family have ever been. Hoping to take over from his coward father and brother, he despises the woman who his mother became, and secretly goes out in the night to brothels and beats upon fat dwarven wenches. He is slightly derranged, believing it all to be a dream, and has several times killed these poor ladies. He has many alliances with secret societies such as thieves guilds etc, but also one with the Helmsman guild, helping them by stalling tradeships with political incursions, and causing them to pay less for their mana crystals due to lateness. Should his efforts, either in the night or behind the scenes, be discovered, he, and his helmsman guild allies, would likely face death, but he has a plan to be rescued by a loyal thieves guild, whom he constantly aids monetarily. Champion Clathok (F14, LE, Dep, 250): A muscle-bound, strapping mountain of a dwarf, with a black beard that reaches to the floor, Clathok sends the hearts of dozens of dwarven maidens (and wives) racing when he enters the room. Having an affair with not only Queen Aralleng, but several other noble house's wives, he plays a dangerous game of power. He speaks very little, but has a piercing gaze, and an incredible intelligence that woo's the women. Should he be discovered to be the adulterer he is, and should it also be discovered that he sometimes uses eyes of charming to get his way into a noble wife's bed, he would likely be executed, but is also in with prince Kelgar V and his plans, and would be rescued by the thieves guild. Clan Maharia Gortharian dwarves through and through, these proud, and absolutely insufferable dwarves hold true to the highest of dwarven principles - and stereotypes. The only difference is their complete lack of respect for women, and the fact that each of them has a harem of dwarven (and sometimes non-dwarven) wenches. Living in a part of Gortha where the rule allows them to have these relationships without fear of retribution, legal, political, or feudal, they are a strong house, with many warriors to their flag. It is their hope to be the next in the King's throne, regardless of whom in their family it is, as they wish to change the law's so they may actually marry their harem women, as many of the Maharian's do actually love their wenches quite deeply. A strange curse on the Maharians, given by a Black Dwarf Savant some 300 years ago, prevents most of them from fathering more than one child, as their "veins run dry of mithril" - or so they say. Duke Mahar XXIV (F8, NG, Gor, 350): The current leader of Clan Maharia, Mahar XXIV is an ancient dwarf, living well past his allotment of years. His beard grey, and his skin wrinkled, he will soon abdicate control of the Clan to Mahar XXV, his only son, and retire to a position of occasional advice, and unlimited wenches, Prince Mahar XXV (F6, NG, Gor, 230): The strong-willed and minded dwarf prepared to take over the clan, and the throne if the opportunity arises, Mahar XXV is very like his father, but merely younger. In truth, it is incredibly hard to tell them apart of one discounts their appearances, and often letters from one have been mistaken to be written by the other (after all, the other dwarves think it a waste of space to worry about so many numbers). Shield Mahar XXVI (F8, NG, Gor, 130): Not only the grandson of the Duke, but the Champion of his Clan, Mahar XXVI is a strong, heavyset dwarf, also very like his father, and his father's father before him. The only difference is he has few wenches, and truly loves every single one of them. While Mahar XXIV has over fourty of different races, and Mahar XXV has close to 30, including Mahar XXVI's mother, Mahar XXVI himself has only ten, and keeps them near him always. There are six dwarves, mostly Gortharian, a halfling, a pair of humans (twin sisters actually), and even a half-elf. Mahar XXVI often states he finds those pointy ears very erotic, and socially exciting. He holds the Clan title of Shield, being the champion and the Duke's grandson (as this dual life is a tradition). Stone Mahar XXVII (Lv0, NG, Gor, 30): A young dwarf by any standards, Stone Mahar XXVII (a title given as he is next in line for the Shield) is but a teenager by dwarven standards, and a very adolescent one at that. He has allready begun attracting the roving eye of some women, however, as it is obvious he will be a very handsome dwarf in due time. As his beard is beginning to stubble itself, Shield Mahar XXVI has begun training his son in the use of weaponry, although it is only wooden so the lad doesn't hurt himself. The boy is itching to take on the role of Shield, and attempting to trian faster than he can handle, so that he great-grandfather may retire, allowing his grandfather to become the Duke, his father the Prince, and he himself the Shield. Obviously, this cannot happen until he is a competent warrior, and of a decent age, as otherwise he would be a poor clan champion indeed. Prince Freyhling (Lv 0, Gor, 2): Barely able to speak, this little miracle, as Mahar XXVI his father calls him, is one of the rarities in the clan - a brother, and the second son of his father. Freyhling looks to be healthy, and will likely be a strong dwarf when he is older. Allready, he has begun building citadels with his play blocks (carved by Mahar XXI for his own son, and handed down over the generations), and showing architectural skill.
