Hmm... Don't know for sure about this, though there is a Beholder god (Gzemnid) and an illithid god (Ilsensine the giant psionic brain, as close to a worshippable diety as mind flayers could ever have). Both situated on the Outlands (True Neutral Outer Plane) because everyone hates them. Whether these beings create their followers or vice versa is unclear. Now, I think Spelljammer is the source of the different genetic strands theory. As for Beholder tech, their ships (which I never liked that much, to be honest) are made for them by the Arcane. They are quite organically masterful themselves, apparently, because of all of the Beholder kin and abominations and such that they create. And there are even Beholder mages, though those are quite funky. There are also the Gauths and Specators or whatever, Outer Planar Beholders from Mechanus (aka Nirvana) summoned to protect things. This might indicate some sort of divine origin for Beholders. (Are these the original watchers which then changed wildly to create the other strains?) ¤ A Psh -----Original Message----- From: FC2 Daniel Davis [mailto:davisd@????.????.mil] Sent: Tuesday, May 08, 2001 6:47 AM Subject: Re: Metacultures I thought that beholders were created by gods to gather infromation for them. > -----Original Message----- > From: woodelf (lists) [SMTP:woodelph@????.net] > Sent: Saturday, May 05, 2001 1:54 PM > To: SPELLJAMMER-L@??????.???????.com > Subject: Re: [SPELLJAMMER] Metacultures > > >". first, i have a problem > > > >accepting any "Master Race" that both has no manipulative digits, > and > > > >needs them. beholder mouth-sticks? > > > >Hang on..Beholders have the telekinesis eye.
