However, as it stands, it's more complicated than I think most people would want to deal with. You'd have to keep track of where those 30 or 40 crewmembers are from round to round, etc. Sort of like hit locations in melee combat -- works in many games, but D&D has always ignored it for a simpler system. That said, has any thought been put towards the idea of having Spelljammer 3e be an actual honest-to-god space-based wargame? 2e Spelljammer combat had a _lot_ of influences from such wargames, so might it actually be easier to handle Spelljammer 3e as a seperate wargaming system? WotC is releasing their skirmish wargame, "Chainmail," this fall, so the idea is not that unusual. I realize that it's a bit of a rather drastic departure from the RPG-based elements we've been throwing around so far, but, well, I think it might be worth looking at. Besides, if that were the case, I think there'd be a much better chance of some wargame company possibly picking up Spelljammer in that sense (ala White Wolf picking up Ravenloft). I would love to have a nice Nautiloid miniature to paint. :-D Steve
