I was looking through skulls and crossbows again re reading bloody vikings.
and i realized. hey what if our spellless mage was a sorcerer. and then i
though wait a minute. man you could use sorcerers like living engines. cut
off their hands and tounges and poke out their eyes. yeeaa...

all you would have to do is feed them once in a while. there could be
inquisitions. as soon as you showed the potential of tainted blood (or was
that gifted blood) or if your family showed the possibilty of having been
exposed to such vile influences then you would be taken prisoner to see if
any magical ability developed.

I can picture it know priests coming cities and planets loking for sorcerers
to power helms.

it could be a status symbol among nobles. how many spell cows do you have?
I have five powering my ships.
Five! five simply won't do nowadays. you need atleast ten.

the whoel thing could be like the shadows using humans as processors on
their ships.

i still don't think sorcerers should use standard helms. but if they do this
is a nice alternative.
