First of all, you grant that permission (they have submission guidelines and a legal form that requires signing). Second, there's a difference between changing a mispelled word to a correctly spelled one and changing AD&D versions completely (for instance adding kits to a 1e scenario or totally revamping for 3e). Since no such permission was given (at least by me) for works on the site, no such permission exists. There is no "tacit editorial power". Do you really think I'd admit to stealing that much money in my email sig? Uhh, don't answer that. The crazier the people are around me the saner I am. That's why I work in an asylum.
