I remember something similar, but it's been ages. I think one of the other suggestions was to have it linked to a specific moon and follow that cycle no matter where you go. So, it's not the moon of the planet your on that is important, it's the moon of the planet where you were infected that influences you. If there were multiple moons, I'd say pick one as the moon of influence and go with that. Hmmmm...a 3 mooned planet with 3 competing groups of lycanthropes, each tied to a different moon. That might be interesting.
