Oh, I think this figure's pretty close. I guess the feeling I hope will be
offered is that the journey would be long enough, even given a skilled
navigator who knew pretty much where he was going & had taken minute
precautions, that the resources of a ship's air envelope, and food carrying
capacity, under the best circumstances, would still be tested.  Thus, any
encounter or mistake in the phlo would mean the crew were put in danger, by
the simple fact of how far they were from, well, anywhere. As it was in the
years when the simple journey across the pond was a hazard in itself [too
bad we have no hurricaines in space]. That would make it truely more of a
frontier, far enough from 'civilized' space that you have to survive by wits
& strength.

Ah! Perhaps the openning of the frontier, post-Unhuman-war sphere allows
sudden access to this cluster that was previosuly closed as well? An errant
flow river that suddenly reconnected?
