Personally, I think that you should be excited by the advent of 3e, even if you never use it. I think that if TSR is successful in their intention of getting new people into the game, that can only be a good thing for the hobby as a whole, and certainly good for Spelljammer. Spelljammer is a dead world, and the only way to keep it in its current undead state is fans; especially new ones who may still have that sense of "wow, this stuff is cool" feeling that we had when we first discovered Spelljamming. We aren't likely to get that from older players because most all the old players are already familiar with it and have made their decisions to like it or hate it. Secondly, 3e appears to be what's responsible for the re-release of all the Spelljammer material. Even if it's in electronic format, that's probably more than anyone here had imagined would ever happen, and I'm sure ranked pretty high on a lot of wish lists. Certainly all of us should be appreciative of this fact. As for the 3e system itself, my opinion is basically "it's a rules system." This means it has advantages and flaws just like any of them out there and so people should use whatever they think fits their campaign, players, and themselves best. Most importantly, they should use what ever is going to give them the most fun. You are welcome to your own opinion on the system, but I would recommend voicing them in a less offensive manner. And voicing them so that you don't make yourself look small minded and prejudiced. You defeated your own arguments without any help from anyone else (arguments that appear to be just takes on the old system vs. setting debate anyway).
