No, if I want the easy approach. You summon elementals and monsters (monster
summoning) and invisible stalkers everyday as a wizard. Why would one with a
little more power make a difference?

  Assuming you

If he could do that he wouldn't need you for anything in the first place.
Planars, including prime material planars, all have the same problem: jumping
across planes is neither easy nor common. Also if I can gate him in once I
can gate him in a second time and this time suck his life force out. Killing
such a being is just too easy once you've got access to spells of that level,
especially if you actually possess the intelligence the PHB says you need to
use them.

  However, the big obsticle

That's what all those nice meta-magic spells are for. Or simply create an
item that can be activated once/day and has no charges and set about doing
what you want. If you're worried about wasting time make a simulacrum to sit
there and use it. 18+ level spell casters can affect huge areas.

Depends on how you summon them and control them. 5th level summon elemental
isn't the end all of elemental summoning spells. That's why mages develop
powerful items and spells, more powerful than the "generic" ones. If our mage
has all that time to waste hopping around serving minor elemental lords he
certainly has the time to create the spells and magical items he wants/needs.

Do you really think I'd admit to stealing that much money in my email sig?
Uhh, don't answer that.

The crazier the people are around me the saner I am. That's why I work in
an asylum. No, not the rubber room again! No, but, but, my email...
