Subject: Re: Sphere collaboration
Wolfwraith suggested we contribute to a sphere he would collate.
Static reminded us of Webspace.

I went and read Webspace. I like it. You knew this was coming, but...

It struck me that the descriptions of the worlds in the sphere were somewhat
restrictive. The slight details of the not yet filled in worlds were set for
a "real world physics" approach akin to that from Traveller, Book 6 (?)
Scouts. Which works fine with vac' suits and FGMP-15s but doesn't go down
too well with leather armour and Vorpal swords.

Don't get me wrong, if I ever get hit by an inspiron (particle of
inspiration) which fits I'll submit an airless moon, in the mean time just
about everyone is coming up with excellent fantasy planets, like
Afterburners Lharn, ripe with possibility, or whole spheres such as Jim
Sheetzs Splatterspace, just waiting for intrigue. But they just don't fit
into Webspace.

So what is my point?

<self snipping can make you blind>

I don't have one.

Perhaps I do afterall, call me a cynic, but very few folks are going to
bother putting creative effort into airless moons no one will ever visit,
whilst the pcs need to prevent Ming the Merciless ravaging Lar (Goblins
Return p5) and sparking UWII. Or whatever.

I mean, the play's the thing, wherein I'll catch the conscience of the
players, not the scenery. (Although I admit scenery helps.) Heresy of
heresies, I didn't like Astromundi as a place but I ripped off the plot big
time.

I mean, create as many worlds as you like, without a plot all you've got is
scenery.

Sit's back from keyboard and dons asbestos underwear.

have fun
