Here are some of my suggestions on what the role of the council should be

1. To develop a constitution that is to be voted on by the members of the
list, as the the list should be considered the offical fan body of
Spelljammer, and the ASC the executive of said body.

2. To release supplimentary material to expand and support the Spelljamming
Universe.

3. To lay out a single timeline for the Spelljamming universe to be voted
on by the list, either as a whole or by part.

4. Engage with WotC, who owns the intellectual property of D&D, and
Spelljammer as the offical representatives of the fan body. (ie talk with
the brand mananger)

5. Reconize of the published material by WotC the material which shall be
reconized as Core and Cannon material, and that which can be regarded as a
supplimentary module (the adventuers in space boxed set is cannon, but the
Legend of the Spelljammer is not cannon, but is published so it would ).
The offical list of Cannon material shall undergo a vote by the list as the
final list of Cannon material

6. If Spelljammer is ever considered for republication the ASC should seek
to engage WotC in development of the product.

Pauls Suggestions

1. We need to know if Static is willing to run the election (as the only
'permanent/guarenteed' member:) Also, if Static is willing to run it, he
will need some help, I think! I volunteer to help, but others will need to
as well. Specifically, anyone who knows they can't/won't be able to join
the council would be great as vote counters:)

Though it may not be a popular idea we should definatly try and get WotC to
provide a Brand manager to listen in on the council. After all they do own
the intellectual property.

2. Only once that's done should we open up to nominations. I'd suggest that
we should have nominations for a week, and that each nomination should be
seconded (and perhaps thirded?). If we can get perhaps 10 or so people
nominated, I think we could have a good election.

Defintatly seconded, and if Static doesn't mind could he post the list of
people running on his web site?

3. I'd suggest the election run for 2 weeks, and at the beginning each
nominee should post a short description of their vision for Spelljammer,
how they think things should go. If we only have 10 or so nominees then i
think taking the top four vote getters would work (Static makes the fifth
council member).

>>
I've laid these out above in terms appropriate for councils.
>>

4. Once the election is over then the Council should first quickly organize
a 'constitution' and publish it, I suspect we (ie all of us on the list)
will all prefer a 1 year term, or some such. I think April Fool's day is a
good day to start/end such a term:)

5. Then, the council can get down to business, coming up with the SJ
'canon'. I'd suggest that the council still have the list vote on major,
important choices (like interpretations of gravity and air, for example).
This sounds immodest, but I'd suggest a rewrite of my SJ Primer by the
council would be a good way to establish a first 'canon' product.

6. Then, the Council can get down to doing what we all want, which is
getting new SJ stuff out on the web:)

>
One thing I would add is that we should come up with a "ghost"
member, whose duty is to step in and vote on anything that comes
up that involves canon approval for a work buy a member of the ASC.
If I want to present something for approval, and I am a member, I
shouldn't be able to vote on it.

Good idea, perhaps we should add the position of ghost member to the vote
as well. Can I suggest Leroy if he feels he won't have enough time to be a
full time council member.

Cheers, David
