I agree that the focus should be on the list and the 'net. The idea of
running events at cons is just secondary. It gives us the chance to
introduce SJ to new folks as well as giving list members (those who go to
cons anyway) a chance to meet face-to-face to play some SJ rather than just
debate and swap ideas, or PBEM.

I agree with you in part, but the idea of a Living SJ setting is awfully
appealing. But to do that (if the interest is there) we would need a common
framework to base it on. I think a common framework is possible though. The
stickier arguements could be posted to the list and voted upon to decide
which camp wins out for the Living setting.
The problem there as with any voting is getting a turnout, this list is what
up to 144 people I think most of them lurkers who don't post.
