No duh. I did sort of mean to make it a magic item. (Also, I own the Dragon (#159) that introduces that cloaking helm. Right up with the orbus ring, but this would work better than cloaking, at least IMHO. Yeah, I've seen the cloaking helm. I just like permanence in my magic. (And this doesn't drain SR.) For a stealth craft, it just seems better to land on the deck unnoticed than to reveal yourself when the envelopes touch. The only disadvantage I can see is that cloaking helms exist already, and that watching that first step is harder when it's invisible (along with the deck below it, radius giving a sphere). Digging through my stuff, the ordinary cloaking helm.... noticed at 1,000 yards as refractive effect at edges, 3 turns (hours?) a day, only below spelljamming speed, gain surprise +4 bonus on attacks, contact causes it to dissipate. Cost=350,000gp For the purpose (hypothetically making flitters a spicier meatball) my version works much better. The idea on this one is to get a boarding party onto the deck, not to make ship attacks. Who needs to be invisible for that? May as well just paint the ship black and extinguish your torches, for all the good it does. See, this ship won't attack or pursue, there is no effect to notice, and when they see ya it's a little too late anyway. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
