i've got to say; i think you've put the level of technology far far too
high here, irrespective of in-game justification.

i know that SJ has a higher tech level than adnd as a whole, and this
touches on something i'm doing at the moment, but i'd set quite strict
limits to avoid destroying the flavour of the game.

the limits i set myself were, among other things, no rifling, no
percussion caps (which weren't invented until alfred nobel!), and
certainly no steam power.

i hate to say it, but i don't think lever action rifles and gattling
guns have a place in SJ. this is, after all, _swords_ and sorcery, and
if melee combat is obsoleted by 19th century firearms...
