Actually with the same THAC0 for all large weapons of the same type no matter the user and ships being the main determiner of "hit points" I think SJ does a lot to even the playing field between high and low level characters. Except for SR high level characters have little advantage over low level ones in straight combat (asuming spells and boarding actions don't come into play). Simply by investing in weapon loader, sail manipulation, spacemanship, spelljamming, and balance proficiencies your characters can gain a huge advantage. Thrown in the large weapon weapon proficiency and they're even better off (+1 to hit with those large weapons). As low level characters they should do just fine and when their levels start to rise throw some better equipped (and proficiencied) enemies at them. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
