Character History
Malek was born to be a sailor. His father - Malcor - was a sailor as was his father
before him.
Malek showed a keen intellect from an early age and his father wasdetermined that his
son be more than a simple seahand. To that end, Malcor got his son a position as a
Cabin Boy on "The Wave Dancer" his current berth.
Malek took to his role and, in his free time, determined to learn all he could of
shipboard life. He learned the lines and how to operate the ships main weapon - a
Ballista - and soon was promoted to full hand.
When he could, Malek watched the Navigator at work plotting the ship's various
courses. The Navigator noticed this interest and, at the next port, had the Captain
assign malek as his apprentice and take on a new cabin boy. Malek soon learnt enough
about Navigation to claim a berth on a new ship "The Briny Deep" in that position.
Unfortunately for Malek, his new berth lived up to it's name and was soon resting in
the Briny deep, victim of a freak storm; fortunately only a day or two out from
Waterdeep. Malek was one of the few survivors that were picked up by another vessel
making for the city and is currently seeking a new berth.
He is confident that his knowledge of most ship functions and his two ships tickets -
one as Navigator - will secure him a good berth shortly.
